Trouble breathing…Please help!?

I’ve been super tired lately and I have been having some trouble breathing normally.
I have also been gaining weight even though I exercise daily.

I’ve just had my blood tested, everything came out normal except my thyroid is slightly larger than normal, I have been put on 50 mcg of Synthroid.
I’m taking it for 3 months to see if it makes it easier for me to loose weight and to test if my thyroid goes back to its normal size.
As for my trouble breathing he said that my Tonsils were “The size of meat balls” and they need to be taken out which will be done soon.
I’m only 17 and I’m really worried that even after I have my tonsils taken out I’ll continue to have trouble breathing even though everyone has assured me I won’t.
It is also a possibility that I have Sleep Apnea, since I’m constantly tired, but he thinks this will be resolved once my Tonsils have been taken out.
If anyone has been in or is currently in a similar situation, any advice you have to give me is appreciated

Fatigue is a non-specific symptom than may be due to several problems. Both hypothyroidism and obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) can cause fatigue. Because OSA patients wake up frequently and have poor-quality sleep, they are often tired and sluggish during the daytime. They may also have difficulty concentration or staying awake. Sometimes OSA may be due to enlarged tonsils, as your doctor mentioned. Other causes include weight gain/obesity, facial/throat abnormalities, and smoking.

If large tonsils is the cause, removing them should improve your sleep. In the meantime, try and lose weight. Weight loss is best done with a combination of a healthy diet and exercise. Also, quit smoking (if you do) and avoid alcohol. Treating your hypothyroidism may also help.
